Workshops StudioNatur
Book a workshop at StudioNatur, explore real fossils and discover prehistoric sharks, or make your own flower press and uncover the secrets of a herbarium.
Sharks of the Ancient Desert: Drawing the past
Most shark fossils consist solely of teeth, because shark skeletons are made of soft cartilage. However, in the Moroccan Sahara, scientists have found almost complete shark skeletons – in the middle of the desert!
In this workshop, we will explore real fossils from the museum’s collection and learn how scientists reconstruct extinct animals. Become a palaeontologist for a day and create your own shark reconstruction drawing. You can create your artwork by hand or digitally using Photopea and take it home.
For groups of 8–12 persons aged 12 and older.
Secrets of the Herbarium: Build your own flower press
Become a plant explorer for a day! Scientists use dried plants from the Herbarium to study biodiversity, climate change, and how plants spread over time.
In this workshop, you will build and decorate your own wooden flower press using a laser cutter and prepare and label your own plant samples. Along the way, you will discover how plant ecologists use herbaria to study environmental change.
A hands-on workshop for curious people who want to discover nature in a new way.
For groups of 8–12 persons aged 10 and older.
